A recent news article caught my eye in Ohio, when a 24 year old mom and her 3 year old daughter went missing.  It happens the individual with them is currently wanted by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's Adult Parole Authority for violations of his supervision.  The mom's alleged boyfriend, 27 year old male, was released from prison in Ohio and on the same day walked away from the halfway house and now a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Robbi Douglas Potter, is a Tier III sex offender released on May 28, 2009 after serving time for a third-degree felony conviction for sexual battery of a minor.  Candace Watson, 24 mother of Haylee Elizabeth, age 3, are both believed to have been taken against their will.  Candace's mother told police she was concerning for the safety of her daughter and granddaughter. Read full story...

From a posting on Candace's MySpace page they could possibly be camping in the southern part of Ohio.  If anyone has information concerning the disappearance of Haylee, please contact the Crestline Police Department at 419-683-2222. An amber alert has not been issued in this case.

The above case lead me to another trend coming to light.  Today on www.momlogic.com an article was posted entitled: Beware! Child Predators are Targeting Moms

Predators have now found another way to get to children through their moms, by using parenting websites and forums.  Lori Getz, author of the article has some great advice and examples of how this is done by the luring predators.  Use the parenting websites and forums to gain the information you need, but don't use these websites to meet new people even if they have helped you out and never ever introduce your kids to someone who may be helpful to you from a website.

Keeping children safe in their own backyards and in front of computers is a diligent and ongoing task for parents. Now, two organizations dedicated to child safety have joined forces to increase awareness of the danger posed by sexual predators, online stalking, harassment and bullying. Both organizations are instrumental in facilitating tougher laws to deter sexual predators.

Denise Pellow, founder of KidsBeSafeOnline LLC, and Derek VanLuchene, President of RyanUnited.org, bring personal experience, research, common sense and technology to address the issues of child safety. Both organizations are involved in legislative and educational efforts to increase the awareness of predatory activities that endanger young people worldwide.

VanLuchene, of Helena, Montana, experienced personal tragedy in 1987, when Ryan, his then eight-year-old brother was kidnapped by a repeat sex offender while playing in his backyard. The boy was sexually assaulted and murdered by the offender who had been released from prison just weeks before, and had served time for a past sexual assault against a 13-year-old boy.  Read Full Release

When the predators are your own parents?

Child 5 years old offered for sex via text message. It behooves me to write these stories when I just can’t believe me own eyes! A 25 year old woman in San Antonio, Texas was accused of wanting to trade sex with her 5 year old to an adult male for housing and transportation, along with her 10 month old daughter for the same purposes to sell later.

Jennifer Richards was charges with “interstate facilities to transfer information of a minor.” Her married boyfriend 40 yr old Sean Michael Block has been charged with distributing child pornography. It appears he and his wife have a 14 month old at home where his wife has now filed a protective order and for divorce.

An FBI informant reported the text message allegedly sent by Sean Michael Block reads “Nice piece 5 yrs old belongs to my gf and she wants to sell it.” And if that wasn’t enough… the chief investigator in the case said, “after reviewing the computers the couple used, they were also making plans to abduct, rape and carve-up a teenage runaway,” as reported on FoxNews.com and KSAT.com out of San Antonio, TX to read entire article go to http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,409701,00.html

The children are no longer in Jennifer Richards’ custody. We will keep watch and add updates to this story as it unfolds.
